The Golden Star Hotel

We have just come back from a fantastic holiday here’ we have stopped at protaras every year’ and ate in Yianna Marie a few times so knew the food would be nice, so we stopped in this hotel half board’ service is fantastic food was great, set menu choice of 3 starters 3 mains and 2 deserts’ different everyday’ our plan as a family was to go out a few times to eat but it was that nice we stayed in every night’ staff was great with our 3 year old son a specially Leo and Nicolas. Hotel is fab 2 pools’ clean and friendly staff can’t do enough for you, if you want to book half board with a good dining experience with a great vibe this is the hotel for you. Great one week stay with my family! Location is amazing.. You are virtually on the beach and a short stroll from the beautiful fig tree bay beach. You are also central, right next to the large selection of shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel was lovely and clean except from the pool drains which were filled with dirt and covered in green slime so that was a shame as I didn’t want to sit on the side of the pools due to the dirty drains. We also paid for late check which was an extra 50 euros for another 6 hours which seemed ridiculous but we had an evening flight so nothing else we could do. Overall I highly recommend this hotel for the location! Would definitely come and stay here again..

It's okay. Rooms are a bit dated, two single beds pushed together to make a double so you fall down the middle if you want a cuddle. Have to pay extra to use the Aircon in the living area if you have a suite. Cleaning service every other day which was pretty good. Breakfast was nothing to shout about, not much selection, juices tasted awful.

On arrival room not up to standard. Asked to be moved and was advised hotel was full and unable to. Following morning reception moved us without any issues. Rooms typical 3 star but adequate for a base and clean towels daily. Always go AI so this was a first self catering holiday in over 10 years. Perfectly located on the beach 2 pools, games area and use of next doors pool and entertainment. Cafes restaurants a few mins walk. Hotel supermarket prices on par with bigger stores. Fresh bakery daily and huge danishes for approx 1.50€, beer 1€. Didnt use hotel bar or restaurant. Shop beer as near as bar and 3rd of price. Turn left from hotel takes you to the main strip. Waves bar on the right good cheap food. Around corner to waves turning right is an italian. They do take away pizza approx 9€. 1 scoop ice cream on beach 1.70€, bars spirits approx 5.50€ mixer 2.50€ happy hour in some places. Water sports cyclone 15€ each. Would recommend the golden star and would go back for the location is perfect.

Very impressed with this hotel especially given it is only rated a 3 star. It deserves a 4 in my opinion. Rooms were kept clean and tidy daily. Pool and sun bed area was always clean. Staff very friendly. I reported one issue with my bathroom and it was sorted within minutes. Location wise it is perfect. It is right on the beach next to a gorgeous restaurant. It is within walking distance of water sports and the town with an array of food places. Bus stop two minutes up the road which takes you into Ayia Napa (and various other destinations). Overall a great time here.

We are/were in a superior studio (room 301) it's a great spot overlooking the pool and beach/Seaview through the bedroom/bathroom window and balcony. Good for 2 adults or with a small child. Gave 4 stars for the room just because I know there are rooms that need updating but perfectly functional - I've heard some of the other rooms that aren't 'superior' are a little dated, but all clean and comfortable.

Just returned from a weeks stay at the golden star with my disabled wife, we were very happy with the room as it was large with sun on balcony most of day and a walk in shower which my wife requires. Unfortunately after that it was all downhill, the restaurant is a separate building but only a short walk but the standard of food we recieved as half board guests was very disappointing, it certainly was not up to the standard we expected considering the cost we paid and dinner and breakfast could only be described as warm and that is being generous. I don’t blame the hotel 100% for what we got as the holiday company we’re not honest and upfront with there on line description of what was available, unfortunately due to the standard of food and there being no bar facilities in the hotel after 7pm we certainly will not be returning as we have stayed in numerous better hotels in Protaras
